O Come, O Come, Emmanuel
04:09
|
|||
Verse 1
O come, o come, Emmanuel,
and ransom captive Israel,
that mourns in lowly exile here
until the Son of God appear.
Refrain
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.
Verse 2
O come, o come, Emmanuel,
and with us in our darkness dwell.
Bring us your light of healing peace,
and from our grief and sorrow, release.
Verse 3
O come, thou Dayspring, come and cheer
our spirits by thy justice here;
disperse the gloomy clouds of night,
and death's dark shadows put to flight.
Verse 4
O come, Desire of nations bind
all peoples in one heart and mind.
From dust thou brought us forth to life;
deliver us from earthly strife.

Verse 1
On Jordan’s bank the Baptist’s cry
announces that the Lord is nigh;
Awake and listen, for he brings
glad tidings of the King of kings.
Verse 2
Let every heart be cleansed from sin;
Make straight the way for God within,
and so prepare to be the home
where such a mighty guest may come.
Verse 3
For You are our salvation, Lord,
our refuge and our great reward;
Without Your grace we waste away,
like flowers that wither and decay.
Verse 4.
To heal the sick, stretch out Your hand,
and make the fallen sinner stand;
Shine out and let Your light restore
earth's own true loveliness once more.
Verse 5
To You, oh Christ, all praises be
Whose advent sets Your people free,
Whom with the Father we adore,
and Holy Spirit evermore.

The Rose
08:31
|
|||
There Is No Rose of Such Virtue
Verse 1
There is no rose of such virtue
As is the rose that bare Jesu;
Alleluia.
Verse 2
For in this rose contained was
heaven and earth in little space;
Res miranda. (marvelous thing)
Verse 3
By that rose we may well see
there be one God in persons three,
Pares forma. (equal in form)
Verse 4
Leave we all this worldly mirth,
and follow we this joyful birth;
Transeamus. (let us go)
Verse 5
There is no rose of such virtue
as is the rose that bare Jesu
Gaudeamus. (let us rejoice)
Alleluia.
Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming
Verse 1
Lo, how a rose e'er blooming, from tender stem hath sprung!
Of Jesse's lineage coming, as those of old have sung.
It came, a floweret bright, amid the cold of winter
when half-spent was the night.
Verse 2
Isaiah 'twas foretold it, the rose I have in mind:
With Mary we behold it, the virgin mother kind.
To show God's love aright she bore to us a Savior
when half-spent was the night.

Say Yes
03:46
|
|||
Verse 1
When the angel arrives there will be terror, but say yes.
The sound of wings like the breaking of a mirror, but say yes.
It will arrive where you’re little and you’re scared,
it will lay claim to the things you’ve never shared,
and though your heart and your soul are unprepared, say yes.
Verse 2
And it may tear you from home and family, but say yes.
It may demand you become a refugee, but say yes.
And when you’re cold, and you’re hungry, and you’re poor,
When you’re in pain in a room without a door,
And when the angel returns and asks for more, say yes.
Bridge
Hail! full of grace, the Lord is with you.
Worlds without end depend on you.
Blessed is the one whom you bring forth,
who no one else can bring.
Verse 3
When the legions of angels call you blessed, say yes.
And were you faithful in each and every test? Say yes.
And when they ask you in story and in song,
were you upheld and protected all along?
And did the power of the Spirit keep you strong? Say yes.

I Wonder as I Wander
04:35
|
|||
Verse 1
I wonder as I wander, out under the sky,
how Jesus the Savior did come for to die
for poor ord'n'ry people like you and like I.
I wonder as I wander, out under the sky.
Verse 2
When Mary birthed Jesus, twas in a cow's stall,
with wise men and farmers and shepherds and all,
but high from the heavens a star's light did fall;
And the promise of the ages it then did recall.
Verse 3
If Jesus had wanted for any wee thing,
a star in the sky or a bird on the wing,
or all of God's angels in heaven to sing,
He surely could have had it, 'cause He was the king.

Wexford Carol
03:29
|
|||
Verse 1
Good people all, this Christmastide
consider well and bear in mind
what our good God for us has done
in sending his beloved son.
With Mary holy we should pray
to God with love this Christmas Day.
In Bethlehem upon that morn
there was a blessed Messiah born
Verse 2
Near Bethlehem did shepherds keep
their flocks of lambs and feeding sheep,
to whom God's angels did appear,
which put the shepherds in great fear.
"Prepare and go," the angels said,
"to Bethlehem, be not afraid.
For there you'll find, this happy morn
A princely babe, sweet Jesus born."
Verse 3
With thankful heart and joyful mind
the shepherds went, this babe to find.
And, as God's angel had foretold,
they did our savior Christ behold.
Within a manger he was laid
and by his side the virgin maid,
attending on the Lord of life
who came on earth to end all strife.

Sussex Carol
02:38
|
|||
Verse 1
On Christmas night all Christians sing,
to hear the news the angels bring.
news of great joy, news of great mirth,
news of our merciful King's birth.
Verse 2
Then why should we on earth be sad,
since our Redeemer made us glad.
when from our sins Christ set us free,
all for to gain our liberty?
Verse 3
All out of darkness we have light,
which made the angels sing this night,
"Glory to God in highest heaven,
now and forevermore, Amen!"
|
||||
8. |
||||
Verse 1
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King:
peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled!"
Joyful, all ye nations, rise,
join the triumph of the skies;
with th'angelic hosts proclaim,
"Christ is born in Bethlehem!"
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King"
Verse 2
Christ, by highest heaven adored,
Christ, the everlasting Lord,
late in time behold him come,
offspring of the Virgin's womb:
veiled in flesh the Godhead see;
hail th'incarnate Deity,
pleased with us on earth to dwell,
Jesus, our Emmanuel.
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King"
Verse 3
Hail the heaven-born Prince of Peace!
Hail the Sun of Righteousness!
Light and life to all he brings,
risen with healing in his wings.
Mild he lays his glory by,
born that we no more may die,
born to raise us from the earth,
born to give us second birth.
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the newborn King"

In the Bleak Midwinter
04:00
|
|||
Verse 1
In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
in the bleak midwinter, long ago.
Verse 2
Our God, heaven cannot hold Him, nor earth sustain;
heaven and earth shall flee away when He comes to reign.
In the bleak midwinter a stable place sufficed
the Lord God Almighty, Jesus Christ.
Verse 3
What can we give Him, poor as we are?
His gift is our redemption. We, His children are.
The Lord asks not for silver, gold, nor songs, nor blood,
but a humble spirit, and a grateful heart.
